Last week at Nirvana Bodywork Henrico county, we worked with a client who came in complaining of persistent tightness and aching through the mid back — especially between the shoulder blades.

They described the area as feeling constantly “tight and heavy,” especially after long workdays and time spent sitting at a desk. Movement felt restricted, posture was suffering, and the discomfort had started traveling into the neck and shoulders.

During the session, we focused on the interconnected muscles that commonly contribute to mid-back tension — including the lats, lower traps, rhomboids, and surrounding postural muscles. These areas often become overworked and stuck from stress, poor posture, repetitive movement, and prolonged sitting.

Using targeted therapeutic massage and myofascial techniques, we were able to help release tension patterns throughout the mid back and restore mobility to the surrounding tissue. By the end of the session, the client reported noticeable relief, easier movement, reduced tightness, and less pressure through the upper back and shoulders.
